NEW YORK.

Alicia Keys sings "concrete jungle where dreams are made of"referring to New York, and oh how right she was.
New York. The best city you could ever come across. when you are in New York you feel so insignificant to the rest of the world. You realise how small of a fraction you are and in a way its a release. You can be whoever you want in this city. Dress how you've only ever dreamt about. Eat foods you've never tasted before. New York has it all and on the 25th of June I was lucky enough to wake up at 4:30am (not the lucky part..) and head on a plane to New York (the lucky part.)

The plane trip went quicker than expected! We had two flights to get to NY. Our flights were from Syndey to LA and then LA to NY. On the plane I distracted myself from my ever-linguring-lethargicness with various movies. SOme of which being; Jack Ryan: shadow recruit (i'm a massive thriller/action movie fan), The Budapest Hotel, Hitchcock (loved) and Catching Fire. Along with new episodes of New Girl (season 2) which made me giggle alot. The plane had some amazing views from the window and really made me appreciate the world we live in and how beautiful it all is.

When we arrived in LA i had a shower and got changed into my favourite outfit from VERGEGIRL. Check them out! After the next 5hour plane trip, I finally arrived in New York, ahhh! It was so nice and warm compared to the 14degrees back in Sydney. We loved our hotel room and it was great to go and explore the city. The view from our room was super nice aswell! There was an amazing sunset the night we arrived.

The first morning my sister Belle had an appointment at a hair salon called Devachan in SoHo. While she got her hair dyed I browsed the stores that lined up and down Broadway. I had lunch and a little cafe called Beri, where I ordered a chicken sandwich. Later that night we went and visited the 911 memorial museum. It's incredibly emotional to go through but seriously put together so well. If you ever get to visit New York definitely go.

The next morning we woke up bright and early to go see a free concert in Central Park. The concert was held by "Goodmorning America" and the actual concert was AfroJack featuring Sting (click the link to hear a song of theirs that we saw live.) It was really great and got me hooked to the insane beat of the super humble Afrojack. After the concert we went and had some breakfast and went back to the hotel to have a nap. My nap turned into an 8 hour sleep that resulted in me waking being very dazed and confused. We then headed out and had some dinner. For the rest of my family they had $2 massive slices, as for me I had some watermelon and yoghurt from the local supermarket (I don't like pizza oo.) We met a stylist called Soukena at the pizza place who was super lovely and was about to head off to syle for a photo shoot in Times Square.

Later that night we went on a bus tour all around New York. It was a double decker bus and I sat up the top. It was super chilly and windy but it was overall worth it as we glided down the beautiful streets of NY.

The next day, Saturday 28th we went and visited the Statue of Liberty. It was such a hot day to spend outside but we cooled ourself down with some delicious fresh Lemonade. After visiting the statue of liberty we came home and the rest of my family fell asleep! I expected them to sleep for an hour or so and that we would go explore later that night but no, no, no! They slept until 12:00am! I really wanted to get out of the hotel room and roam about but a) i'm really bad at directions and the streets of New York are so confusing I was sure to get lost without someone by my side. And b) There was this INCREDIBLE sunset from our hotel window that i couldn't pry my eyes away from!

When the family woke up we walked to Times square and just sat and people watched, it was nice.

Sunday was Belle and I's free day to go shopping! This was one of the most eventful days filled with many laughs and crazy adventures. It started off when we couldn't find our bus stop. We stood at the wrong place for 15 minutes in the 30degree heat until we came to the conclusion we were in the wrong spot. After asking a lady who didn't speak fluent english where to go we finally got to our bus Terminal. We caught the bus to SoHo and started our shopping ventures. We started off at Victorias Secret/ PINK where we browsed for quite sometime. When we left we went to ZARA which was to-die for! There were so many stylish chic clothes that I fell inlove with. Sadly I didn't have enough 'cha-ching' to buy the beautiful pieces but I sure admired them! Next we used our map to find Urban Outfitters. I ended up buying so much from 'UO' and left the store feeling very happy :) I bought a creme cardigan, a black 90's inspired crop, a tan hat, stripey tee shirt dress and a watch!

Next Belle and I tried variously to get to American Apparel and got lost many times. We ended up walking over 2 kilometers because we got so lost! We looked through all the stalls of neon swimsuits, cute crops and plaid skirts in AA. While Belle bought a skirt I went and sat out side on a bench. When Belle came out we sat there for a while trying to work out how to get back to the hotel when uber-babe Cole Mohr walked past! Belle and I went up and started to talk to him and he was super sweet. We asked if we could have a photo and he said 'only if you carry me like a baby.' I laughed thinking he was kidding but my oh my he was not! They told us they were heading off to a cafe and asked if we wanted to join but we politely declined.

We later went to a jewellery store called 'In God we Trust' and they have super cute gold love heart necklaces with sassy quotes on them. Some of the engraved quotes were 'Blah blah blah,' 'Bitch please,' 'NOPE' and 'Super f***ing cute.' I ended up getting one with 'Bless this mess' engraved on it. Before we left Belle and I shared a Chocolate/Banana/Nut Crepe which was scrumptious.

On the way back we got more lost than we had before trying to find the correct subway station. We ended up catching a train all the way downtown to Brooklyn when we were meant to go Uptown! Luckily a nice guy on the train told us where to go from Brooklyn Station and we eventually made our way back to our hotel.

Later that night we went to the Empire State building in the heart of Manhattan. It never ceases to amaze me just how high up you can get! It was lit up rainbow colours for the Gay Pride Parade that had just started.

On the next day, we had planned to go for a bike tour around central park. When we got there the place was super busy! Bikes going everywhere, tons of people blocking the pathway. It was complete mayhem! My Dad, sister and I all grabbed our bikes and headed to our ‘meeting place’ to start the tour. Apparently I was meant to wear a helmet (no, no, no) but luckily I didn’t have to (weeee.) We had to walk our bikes 4 blocks in the stinking hot to Central Park and then when we got there our instructor/tour guide talked for what felt like forever. I hadn’t put on any sunscreen that morning which is VERY bad news for a pale person. So we’re standing there in the heat, no shade around, listening to this 60+ year old man speak very slowly about the history of the place where we’re standing. Fun. When we actually started riding our bikes though it was really fun! The park is really beautiful. We even went to Strawberry Fields and saw the “IMAGINE” mosaic dedicated to John Lennon from Yoko Ono. We ended up riding 9km through the park, the majority of the trip me talking endlessly to my (probably bored) sister about my favorite tv shows/movies. When it finally ended we all went to Starbucks and I found my signature drink (this was a big moment for me as I DESPISE coffee or anything that tastes like it. And I wanted and ice chocolate frappe but they didn’t have any that didn’t taste like coffee….I thought). The whole trip I had been drinking a BlackBerry Mojito Iced Tea, which is really refreshing. I asked the man taking orders if there was “like a chocolate frappe? Like anything cold that doesn’t taste like coffee. At all. Please don’t give me something that tastes like coffee. Please.” I tried to stress to him how much the taste of coffee repulses me without sounding like a complete maniac whilst in Starbucks, the coffee shop.
Then like an angel from heaven he brings me out my drink, a Double chocolaty chip iced Frappuccino with cream on top, and from the first sip, I was inlove… It was perfect and my day was made. Lets just say I think I had atleast one every day for the rest of the time in New York.

We had to quickly run to our bus station to make our bus, after spending way too long in Starbucks due to the line (and also me falling inlove with a drink.) When we made the bus (just) we went through a long trip through Harlem which was beautiful. When we got home we just chilled for a little and then left to go to The top of the Rock! I much prefer The Rockefeller Centre mainly due to the fact that even though you don't go as high as you  go on the Empires State building you get a way better view of everything including Central Park! I climbed all of the stairs to the top and loved every second of it.

On our second last day in New York Belle and I desperately wanted to go to the Museum of Modern Art NY. After doing some more shopping, Belle and I caught a subway to 42nd Street and unfortunately due to our amount of time spent shopping, we only had and hour and  a bit to roam around the museum. When we got in it it was 6 floors of works from famous artists such as Frida Kahlo, Henry Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Andy Warhol. We even got to see Vincent Van Gogh's 'Starry Night Sky,' which was incredible! At one point both Belle and I went through this interesting stimulation where you are able to see what it would be like being born, consciously (as a baby.) I hope that makes sense? We were rushed out of the museum when it hit 5:30 (closing time) by some pushy security guards who wouldn't even let us take one more picture. Oh well, haha.

Since arriving in New York belle continuously talked about how she wanted to go to Central Park and just lay in a patch of cool grass under a tree. It was something we both really wanted to do as our feet were super sore but long story short we weren't able to :'( When I arrived back at the hotel though it was all good because the sunset view from out window was breath-taking!

On our last day in New York (sniffle) Belle and I were able to fulfil our dreams of going to Central Park and laying in that much anticipated, cool patch of grass. We woke up at 12:30pm and set out straight for Central Park. We just laid in the nice grass (that turned out to be a bit itchy after a while but lets not ruin the moment) as I drank my signature Starbucks drink. After a few hours we walked around the park but had to keep checking the time because that afternoon we were to go on a Harbour Cruise. After dawdling around the park for 5 hours we went home to meet with the Family and then head off to the waterfront. When we arrived at the hotel we found out that there was a massive thunderstorm coming and it would be too dangerous to go on the water. We stayed in for a while and then caught a taxi to Molyvos Greek restaurant for my parents Anniversary dinner. It was hard to order because most of the foods had red meat in them (I don’t eat red meat or any type of pig meat) but I ended up getting a chicken soup. The desert was absolutely delicious and made me regret agreeing to share with my sister. It was and apple pie of sorts, with cinnamon ice cream and phyllo pastry. Mmm!

Well thanks for being as spectacular as always New York. Cant wait to see you again soon! x x
